The Port of Los Angeles High School (POLAHS) is a not-for-profit, tuition-free charter high school open to all residents of California. Since 2005, POLAHS has fused a college preparatory program with electives in International Business and Maritime Studies.

Faculty, staff and the board of trustees are driven by a mission stating that all students should receive an individualized course of study, have the opportunity to satisfy college entrance requirements and graduate from high school.

POLAHS blends proven teaching techniques into a comprehensive educational philosophy. This approach maximizes student achievement and instills students with an appreciation for life-long learning.

Our Mission
  • All students will graduate from high school.
  • We will prepare and motivate our students for college.
  • Each Student will be introduced to career opportunities in International Business and Maritime Studies.
Vision and Purpose

As a charter school, Port of Los Angeles High School provides for students from diverse locations and a broad range of financial need. Students attend our school because of their commitment to receiving an unparalleled education and superior school services. We expect our Port of Los Angeles High School students to be dynamic in their information processing abilities, time management and critical thinking. These skills will help them complete all of the classes required for graduation, become familiar with various professions available in today's trade-based economy and achieve success beyond our college preparatory program.
