This course is designed to enhance physical performance,
muscle building exercises, overall perspective in physical fitness, knowledge
of different interactive sports, and to promote lifelong health and fitness.
Learning Outcomes: Upon
completion of this course, the students will be able to:
Demonstrate
knowledge on rules and regulations of a variety of team and individual
sports.
Interpret
the importance of physical fitness
Illustrate
knowledge of different body movements
Select
which activities can best fit each individual based on BMI.
Explain
all of the muscles being used for what machine in weight room setting.
Use of
gym equipment in a safe, habit forming, and result producing manner.
Goals:
Standard
1: Students demonstrate knowledge of and competency in motor skills,
movement patterns, and strategies needed to perform a variety of physical
activities.

2: Students achieve a level of physical fitness for health and performance
while demonstrating knowledge of fitness concepts, principles, and strategies.

3: Students demonstrate knowledge of psychological and sociological
concepts, principles, and strategies that apply to the learning and performance
of physical activity.

Course Requirements:
All students must obey all school policies. They must be in
Physical Education Uniform (refer to the school handbook). Students must wear
proper footwear which means no open toe shoes and some form of athletic
sneaker. A NO DRESS for the day may
result in non participation which results in loss of daily points. To avoid
this, just dress. Students are to be in some sort of PE attire by Thursday
or Friday (depending on their schedule), the first week of school.Students must have the required PE, POLAH
apparel by the beginning of the second week of school, September 14th
or 15th (depending on their schedule).

The grades are not given by the teacher, but earned by the
students.

Exams: At the end
of each unit there will be a test or quiz given about the rules and regulations
of that particular unit.
Assignments: Students
are required to write in their daily journals in order to monitor their
physical progression. This is both a motivational method in order to learn
about goal setting and goal accomplishments.
Extra Credit: Extra
credit will be offered throughout the semester and/or upon request.
Classroom rules and
Student Expectations: Students are to behave respectful and profanity is
absolutely not allowed.

Be
respectful of each others' personal space
When
the teacher is speaking, you are listening not talking or whispering.
Listen for instructions the first time they are given.
Proper
use of equipment is enforced at all times ( ie. If you don't know how to
use the resistance bands to touch them unless the teacher says you can,
and teaches you how to use it properly)
Safety
is the key to physical education. Therefore, always be aware of your
surroundings.
Don't
talk out of turn, wait for your turn and then speak.
Raise
your hand if you have any questions, but only when I'm done giving
instructions.
Wait
until I say GO before beginning any activity because I ALWAYS have
something to say or add. Always have something positive to say or don't
say anything at all
Absolutely,
NO CELL PHONES, IPODS, MP3 or electronic equipment. It happens every year,
someone loses theirs and they are devastated but there is NOTHING we could do about it.
