Ms. Childer’s science classes participated in the two-part program. Inside a 50 ft. tractor trailer, students experienced a simulated submersible dive to the bottom of the San Pedro Channel. In the laboratory, students assumed the role of paleontologists studying the faunal history of the Los Angeles Basin. Lessons learned throughout the experiential program included the biodiversity of our local coast; interdependent relationships in ecosystems; and adaptation.
