POLAHS Teachers of the Year

 

Ms. Gant

Ms. Gant graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in English with an emphasis on American Literature from CSU Northridge and holds at Masters in Education Administration from CSU Dominguez Hills. She earned her single subject credential while working for the Los Angeles Unified School District. 

Currently, Ms. Gant teaches American Literature and is the English Department Chair. She coaches Boys and Girls Cross Country. She has also been a leader for the Students Run Los Angeles (SRLA) running club for 11 years. For the last five years, she has helped over 65 POLAHS students train and prepare for the successful completion of the Los Angeles Marathon.

 
 

Mr. Miseroy

Mr. Miseroy attended CSU Dominguez Hills. He received his B.A. in Physical Education with a Minor in Business, while playing on the men's soccer team. He completed his credential coursework at CSU Dominguez Hills in Business and Technology. Mr. Miseroy taught for 12 years at North High in Torrance, where he was instrumental in developing their Applied Technologies Department. During his tenure at North, he taught Computer Applications, Web Design I & II, and 3D Modeling and Animation. He was the varsity girls soccer coach for 13 seasons.

 

Mr. Miseroy teaches Digital Photography and Graphic Design courses for POLAHS' Career Technical Education (CTE) Program. He has established meaningful postsecondary and industry partnerships for his students. Most recently, his advanced Photography students completed a celebrity photoshoot at Marymount California University, utilizing long exposure light painting techniques. Students in Mr. Miseroy's courses earn Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) certifications in Photoshop and Illustrator, leading to successful employment in the industry. Since 2009, Mr. Miseroy has also managed the school-wide technology at POLAHS in his role as IT Director.
