How to Apply
Thank you for your interest in POLAHS! We understand that selecting a high school is a thoughtful decision. We are excited to help you discover our school community. You will find all the information you need here, including how to visit the school; apply as an incoming freshman or transfer student; important dates and deadlines; and lottery and wait-list procedures.
All prospective 9th grade students must complete a Lottery Form during the application period (December - February) to be eligible for admission. No other information will be requested until students are officially accepted. Prospective students will receive their lottery number at the time the Lottery Form is submitted.
A lottery may be conducted if the number of completed Lottery Forms received exceeds the number of openings available. Applicants not accepted at the time of the lottery will be placed on a wait-list according to their assigned placement in the lottery and admitted pending openings.
POLAHS admits transfer students based on availability each year through a lottery system. Students interested in transferring to POLAHS must complete a Lottery Form in order to enter the transfer student lottery for their specific grade level. The purpose of the transfer lottery is to make up the order of the wait-list, which we will then use to fill spots once available. Applicants not accepted at the time of the lottery will be placed on a wait-list according to their assigned lottery number and admitted pending openings. Subsequent applicants will be wait-listed on a first-come, first-served basis. The wait-list will be posted after the lottery is conducted.
Lottery applications will not be available until Dec. 1st 2018 and will not be accepted after Feb. 15th at 4:00 pm. The enrollment lottery for fall 2019 admission will be held on February 22, 2019 at 4:00 pm in the POLAHS MPR. After the lottery has taken place, your application/lottery number will be posted here along with the wait-list students. Please note that all applicants have the same chance of acceptance whether they are first or last to submit applications. Emailed applications are accepted, however, walk in applications are encouraged. All applications received after the deadline will be added to the end of the wait-list, after the lottery has taken place.
