Campus Closure Update - April 15, 2020
Dear Parents/Guardians,

On April 1st, Governor Gavin Newsom and State Superintendent Tony Thurmond recommended that all schools remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. This announcement was recently reinforced, at the local level, by Mayor Garcetti, who extended the Safer at Home order until May 15. Moreover, public health agencies continue to recommend everyone maintain social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In light of overwhelming consensus by state and local officials, POLAHS will remain closed to instruction on campus for the remainder of the semester. The circumstances of this health crisis dictate that we act out of an abundance of caution to protect our community. Once it is deemed safe to resume classes on campus, we will gladfully welcome our students back.
For now, our focus is to continue our distance learning program and to enhance our ability to provide our students and families with support and resources to keep students focused and engaged in learning. There are still some areas we are working to address:

1) End of year senior activities
2) Monitoring and sharing of student progress
3) Developing alternative plans for summer school

We will keep you informed as these plans unfold, and as always, we will remain open hearing suggestions from our families.
We appreciate your continued support and flexibility during this difficult time.

Sincerely,
George Mora
Executive Director/Principal
