Michelle Arthur
Michelle joined the Board of Trustees in July 2023 as the Parents of POLAHS Students (POPS) representative and serves as its President for 2023-2024. She is a first-generation college student, and a first gen grad school student.  Michelle is a proud parent of a current POLAHS student, and an alumnus (’22). She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling from CSU Dominguez Hills and double Bachelors’ degrees from UCLA. Michelle has 20+ years’ experience in K12 and higher education.


At El Camino College, she currently serves as Coordinator/Supervisor, Dual Enrollment (Early College), an equity program designed to increase the participation, persistence, and successful completion rates of historically underrepresented students in higher education while meeting the directive of the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office Vision 2030: “…ensuring all high school students complete 12 (or more) units of dual enrollment before the 12th grade.”

Previously, her tenure included serving as an economic workforce development manager, an academic advisor, counselor, an outreach director, a financial aid manager, student conduct officer, student grievance officer, student development director, a founding member of the college’s behavioral intervention team (BIT), and a successful bond campaign coordinator for the college’s first major $398 million-dollar bond (2002). At El Camino College, Michelle is a 2019 Leadership Redondo Alumni and helped raise funds for the team’s culminating class project, “Honoring Amador Espinosa: 56 Years of Legacy and Service”.

Through POLAHS, she completed the Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE) certification to build capacity and meet other POLAHS parents.

Michelle is a Girl Scout (Troop #7825) parent, an LA Harbor Boys & Girls Club parent and volunteer, Mental Health First Aid Certified, a Camp Kesem parent, a 7-year breast cancer survivor/advocate, and a part time chicken farmer in San Pedro where she resides with her family.

Michelle is proud to serve students within San Pedro and surrounding communities as a POLAHS Parent representative.
